Smile Like Texas are a two piece synthpop band from Wrexham, North Wales, consisting of vocoderphile vocalist Sammy Clifford and beat, synth and harmony master Sebastian Barlow. Starting in late 2008, the two have already gained a small cult following, mainly North Walian based, but, with some dotted fans in America. Echoing the early stylings of Nevershoutnever! they combine rippling synth, vocoder based singing, duets and harmonies, with beats underlining, recently recruiting a drummer to perform drums at their very first show on Sunday the 1st of February 2009, supporting 'Allbright' and more recently, top emo favourite, We Are The Ocean on the 11th of March, 2009. They're braking the more too common indie sounds, Wrexham usually produce with this new genre which is dripping with American Youth innocence, Smile Like Texas are certainly a one to watch.
