Slow Dazzle are a rock band, first appearing in March 2009, and are from the UK. Addressing grown-up angst with intelligent lyrics and catchy yet sometimes heavy tunes, their all-original 2 1/2 hour live set is worth catching if you can, as these themes are addressed with energy and drive on tap from this small powerhouse of a band. Make no mistake, it is a BIG sound live. In short sharp punchy tunes , some almost poppy, such as "Eyes Full of Gold Like the Universe", this trio gel into a tight rythmic powerhouse. Martin's sharp salvos of guitar chops combine with David's melodic bass lines, all driven by Paul's drums, underpin the gritty husky vocal from Dave. The voice, best described as rough velvet, is at once world-wise yet fresh. And this then punctuated by a pithy solo from Martin. Other tunes are more spacious, the band playing with their mutual melodic proximity, relaxing, the rythmic platform morphing to compliment Martin's fuller guitar statements. Rock revisited? Reborn? Not quite, but certainly with an injection of new life and a new persepective. Anthemic tunes such as "Sunfighter" are just that, and you'll be bopping and happily singing along in minutes.
