Artist
Skye Zentz is a folk grown, bluesy voiced singer/songwriter from Norfolk, Virginia. With her first studio album, Legitimate Bohemia, she blended acousic guitar crooning with lilting ukulele tunes and created a unique style she has often referred to as "Savvy pop with a twist of lime". Her father, Bob Zentz, is a self proclaimed "Twentieth Century Troubadour" and a harbinger of the Virginia folk-music scene. He opened a music store called "Ramblin' Conrads" in the early seventies, where Skye grew up dodging folk concerts and playing in practice rooms. It wasn't until well after the shop's closing in 1995 that Skye took a real interest in the music that her father so loved. At 16, she picked up her guitar and began writing heart-warming helplessly cliche love songs to get through her angsty high school crushes. By 21, she had evolved, lyrically and musically, and penned almost all of the songs that would become "Legitimate Bohemia" including the catchy, singable "Little Bird" and the opening ukuele-driven track, "Persephone", a modern re-telling of the greek myth. Skye continues to write and produce new songs, and in 2009, released a limited edition bootleg collection titled "Sprout" with 17 new songs including "Got the Time" and "Intersecting Free", some of which, she hopes to record in the studio for her next release.
