Sjef van Oekel was a fictional Dutch TV character, played by opera singer and actor, Dolf Brouwers (1912-1997). Van Oekel was created in 1972 by TV creative, actor and conceptual artist, Wim T. Schippers. He became a regular in many of Schippers' TV productions and absurdist comedy series between 1972 and 1984. Van Oekel spoke in archaic Dutch and frequently sang songs.
