Six Feet Under is an American death metal band from Tampa, Florida, formed in 1993. The band currently consists of vocalist Chris Barnes, bassist Jeff Hughell, drummer Marco Pitruzzella, and guitarists Ray Suhy and Jack Owen. It was originally formed as a side project by Barnes and guitarist Allen West of Obituary, but became a full-time project after Barnes left Cannibal Corpse in 1995. Six Feet Under has released fourteen studio albums and is recognized by Nielsen SoundScan as one of the best-selling death metal acts in the United States. After forming, Barnes and West recruited Terry Butler and Greg Gall. Six Feet Under initially performed cover songs in clubs in 1993 and began writing original material in 1994. The band signed to Metal Blade Records as a side project while Barnes was still with Cannibal Corpse. Their first album, "Haunted", was released on September 1, 1995, produced by Brian Slagel and Scott Burns. Around this time, Barnes left Cannibal Corpse, prioritizing Six Feet Under. The band released the "Alive and Dead" EP on October 29, 1996, containing three studio tracks ("Insect", "Drowning", and a cover of Judas Priest's "Grinder") and four live tracks from "Haunted". Their second studio album, "Warpath", was released on September 9, 1997, incorporating death metal and death n roll elements and marking the final album with Allen West. In 1998, West returned to Obituary and was replaced by Steve Swanson. This lineup remained stable until 2011. The third st
