Siro; the brainchild of guitarist / vocalist Troy Redfern was born in 2000, in the West Midlands of the UK. Troy Redfern met bass player Nick Davies at high school where they jammed in school rock bands together, later to meet up with more focussed and disciplined musical personalities. Together, they embarked on a mission to find the right drummer to complete the line-up. Through a mutual friend they discovered Nick Smith, a powerhouse rock drummer and front man of the band 'Jester'. During the initial sessions the band soon realised that they had an unprecedented, explosive chemistry. An experience unlike any of them had witnessed from previous bands. In jam sessions songs would fall out complete, their musical references so in tune. The results were inspired, unique songs, sounding fresh and highly melodic, with a hard rock edge. Joe Gooch, who had also been writing and performing with Troy for several years previous, brought his talents to the line-up. Just two weeks after forming, the band played in and won a battle of the bands competition in Wales, knocking out 60 other bands from all regions of the UK. This proved to themselves and to others, that the synergy they had was something quite extraordinary. It also meant that they had their music played on regional radio stations.
