Sir Boltagon is a rapper based in San Antonio. People at shows tell him that he reminds them of Aesop Rock, Doseone, and Grand Buffet; some people don't really think it's rap. He likes the term "psychedlic hip-hop" but everyone makes a weird face at the mere mention of it. "Lyrical gymnastics" is cliche at this point, how about "syntax gymnastics"? Scientist rap? The crowd always bobs their heads, laughs at the jokes in the songs, and leaves with some new seed of an idea in their head. They ask who makes the beats, and the answer is GRAINAXE. and "beats" isn't the best term for what GRAINAXE. does, it's more like proto-metal electo-noise post-hop, something along those lines (heavy on the noise). Sonic Youth broke up(?) so we gotta kick up the noise as best as we can. Sir Boltagon is also one half of RIVAL WIFE!, the weird-science hip-hop duo from Texas and Canada. As part of RIVAL WIFE! Sir Boltagon has opened for Busdriver, Abstract Rude, Neil Hamburger, the Kottenmouth Kings (it was a favor...no one told us there would be Juggalos) and toured Texas with Joe Jack Talcum (of The Dead Milkmen) and the Bassturd in a Ford Taurus. Sir Boltagon has played at and appeard on Ghostpizza's Night School, the Ghostpizza SXSW show in 2011, WOAI.com's "In the Garage," and has been interviewed on the Good Job Texas radio show where we debuted new tracks and were told not to swear at every commercial break.
