The beginnings of Sine Seawave can be traced back to 2005. Initially, it was a studio-only one-man band consisting solely of guitarist Yuri Turov. The first fruits of that secluded activity were mostly post-rock oriented self-titled debut album and EP «Lying and Sleeping» (both 2006). A darker and more edgy-sounding EP «Spokes», utilizing prepared electric guitar as a primary instrument, followed in early 2008. First live performances also took place in 2008, beginning with the participation in electro-musical ensemble PSVSV as a guitarist, then jointly with Gleb Uspensky, soon after followed by full-fledged solo concerts. Yuri left PSVSV in early 2009, while completing his own next album «Rattles». SSW's music becomes somewhat softer, however, still retaining its rough edge. Minimalistic repetition and «wicker-work» come to more prominence during the extensive solo performances. Despite of SSW losing interest in «studio» work, the music of that period finds a way to its realization in a recorded form. In January of 2010, Sine Seawave releases the «Live Tapes» trilogy, entirely comprised of spontaneous solo improvisations without any extra takes, corrections etc. Earlier in the fall of 2009, Yuri joins Karnātaka-Taiga Express. The participation in KTX has been influencing his work in Sine Seawave since then on, leading to more and more exploration of traditional modal structures, the ragas and melas of Indian Classical Music.
