The road thus far has been anything but simple for Northern Colorado’s Simple System. After multiple changes of location and name, Adam Lockwood and Ika Pekelo migrated south from Cheyenne to Colorado in 2006, picked up bassist Rob Stahly, and whammy – Simple System was born. Throughout the changes Simple System has experienced, one thing has stayed the same: the desire to create authentic, innovative music. “Everyone in the band really strives to be masters of the craft and respective instruments,” says Lockwood. “I think that is something that has been lost in popular music of today.” It’s not lost in Simple System. The band members are musicians to the very core of their identity. They live and breathe music. All three have been playing and learning from the best in their respective industries since their early teen years; all are skilled in more than one instrument, and all have music degrees to their name. The heart of Simple System’s musical philosophy? “We try to approach things in unique, interesting ways, giving the serious listener something they can really sink their teeth into, while at the same time, being completely relatable to the average person.” Simple System’s sound is simultaneously raw, moving and poignant.
