"feel the sting before the strike, feel the pain before the bite." Sigilum Serpentis was founded in 2007 by Lamia Dominicus and Antonius Albus. Emerging from the darkest depths of Wizard Rock (a musical genre devoted to the Harry Potter-books), Dominicus is the enigmatic front woman of the evil Witch Rock-act The Sectumsempras, whereas Albus is best known for his Wizard Metal brainchild Voldemort. Both bands previously collaborated on the higly acclaimed song 'Imperio (Under Control)', mixing the haunting electronic dark wave tunes of The Sectumsempras with the ferocious thrash metal of Voldemort. The song was soon followed up by another collaboration, 'Crucio (Pleasure of Pain)'. Shortly after the release of this track, Lamia Dominicus and Antonius Albus decided to take their joint efforts a step further - thus, Sigilum Serpentis was born. The band members prefer to label their music 'Post-Wizard Rock'. They still draw inspiration from the Harry Potter-mythology created by J.K. Rowling, but their musical and lyrical references reach much further. Their music is influenced by a large diversity of bands, from Joy Division to Type O Negative, from The Cure to Nine Inch Nails. The lyrics are inspired by classic themes in art, literature, mythology, psychology and philosophy: love and death, temptation and suffering, darkness and light, power and revenge.
