What started off as a group of friends getting together to make music soon got the attention of very many locals in the Rio Grande Valley. Local clubs would invite these teenagers to open up for big Tejano acts. A mixture of cover and original songs also got the attention of an important record label out of Corpus Christi called, Crown Records. Before the record deal, the band had to come up with an original name that would represent them. Their name was derived from the Spanish word "signo" which means "sign". However, Jesse and the band decided to create their own word and out came "Siggno" with a new meaning which represented their unique style of romantic but dancable music. After the band landed a contract with Crown Records, they came one step closer to reaching their dream. This band's repertoire featured a wide variety of original songs ranging from rancheras to cumbias with some new age twists and effects now becoming more and more accepted by the Industry. The band's originality, energetic sound, and strong stage presence made them a great band for both adults and teens, even kids. Crown Records released Siggno's new album "AL PRINCIPIO"on July 10, 2001 and featured their first single "Pero Hablame" which charted for a whopping 27 weeks on some of the nation's leading Tejano charts. Other songs that became hits were "Esta Lloviendo" and "Un Poquito". Jesse wrote the three singles along with 5 more original songs for the album. He also won the prestigious "Rising
