about

Siegelhead started in late 2004 following the meeting of its two members, Thomas Mugler and Avi Pitchon, in a jam session in the Neukoln district of Berlin. Agreeing on the importance of Van Halen's 'Jump' in the history of pop, they exchanged phone numbers and soon embarked on their quest to 'take electroclash to its extreme logical conclusion'. The central idea was to create live mash-ups, meaning to rebuild combinations of existing trashy, camp hits into new conceptual pieces of novelty pop. For this purpose, acts like Dschinghis Khan, Boney M, Baltimora and Iron Maiden were recruited. Complete with a pair of heavy metal patch denim jackets, Siegelhead started gigging in Berlin's clubs, and have since played in the UK, The Netherlands, Switzerland and Israel. Siegelhead differs from other tongue-in-cheek, ironic acts because the root of their work is based on a genuine love for the beautiful strangeness of pop's outer limits.
