There is a more than one artist with this name: 1. Shutterspeed is the recent solo project of Ben Clancy, formerly of the band Bridges from Austin, Texas. Influences include Iron and Wine, Why?, The National, and the Mountain Goats. Songs are characterized by their raw, poetic lyrics and lo-fi quality. 2. Shutterspeed was an Australian independent band that were renowned for fierce, energetic and passionate live shows, and their beautifully-crafted yet commercially-ignored albums. The vehicle for singer/songwriter Andrew Petersen's songs, the band managed to create a large and potent live sound and detailed, soul-influenced records. Early recordings with previous line-ups brought some attention outside their hometown, but it was the release of the 'Good Little Monkey' single that propelled Shutterspeed onto the national stage. Four months of heavy airplay, noteworthy performances at the Livid and Big Day Out festivals, an extensive national tour and glowing reviews (4 stars in Rolling Stone!) for their debut album 'Hill Street Views' meant that the band moved from a fanatical cult following to a wider national audience.
