Short Ideas is like managing to paint a chiaroscuro with pastel colors. A landscape of the English Channel before waters. The folk-music of the twins, Léo and Tom, deploys its rough roots under the mantle of the French Flanders plains. The guitars’ gentle melodies are filled with indie tones. The lyrics are both enigmatic and of a raw realism. Sylvain’s drum sounds more blown than hit. Short Ideas’ transhumance goes from Fleet Foxes to Animal Collective, pilgrimage for their last EP : How Could a Touch Be Softer? The question is ironical, of course.
