There are at least two artists with this name: 1. Shirley Jones is a Philly Soul artist, best known as a member of The Jones Girls. 2. Shirley Jones is, perhaps, best known for her role on the Partridge Family on television, but her screen roles in "Carousel," and "Oklahoma" introduced her as the perfect lead for two of the most popular screen adaptations of these two Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals. Her voice and onscreen persona made her a favorite of both Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein, who had selected her for their movie versions of these two classic musical comedies. In the 1960's, her musical comedy role extended to the "Music Man" with Robert Preston, and her place for motion picture musical comedy leads was, most established.
