Shining TV Screen is a Philadelphia-based quintet creating an eclectic collection of thematic alternative indie-psych rock music for the sonic stimulation of all whose ears are near. Occupying a sound spectrum comparable to that of The Walkmen and The Strokes, Shining TV Screen sounds as if a spaceship were descending upon a drive-in theater showcasing a high-speed chase scene under a meteor show. Formed in early 2007, the band quickly climbed atop the local college music scene and have been noted as both “local favorites” [Milkboycoffee.com] and “dope as shit” [Philadelphia College Radio Collective]. Since the band’s inception, it has garnered an ever increasing listenership that extends well beyond the constraints of the band’s east coast home. STS has headlined multiple acts throughout the greater Philadelphia area and was even billed with Australian indie outfit Youth Group. Additionally, the band has expanded its resume to include a myriad of performances at local music hotspots such as the North Star Bar, the Manhattan Room, and the Blinkin Lincoln. Shining TV Screen has self-recorded and produced two EPs in their relatively brief stint of existence. The band is currently writing and recording a new base of music that will tentatively comprise their first official studio release. Expect Shining TV Screen’s latest in winter ’09. www.shiningtvscreen.com User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
