Shaggydog is a band that was formed in Sayidan-a village beside a river in the middle of Yogyakarta, Indonesia-which is comfortable and peaceful. On June 1, 1997 , the band consisting of Heru, Richard, Raymond, Bandizt, Lilik & Yoyo' agreed to call the music they play “Doggy Stylee” ; a combination of several musical elements such as ska, reggae, jazz, swing and rock n' roll, even rock which was specially mixed by these 6 bartenders. Cherry Poppin Daddies, Hepcat, Bob Marley, Song Beach Dub Allstars are a few of the bands that influence Shaggydog. Another? Bitter sweetness of life is their inspiration Time passed, show after show they lived. In 1999 Shaggydog's first album was released. With the label Doggy House (Shaggydog management), this album, entitled “SHAGGYDOG”, produced unexpected results. 20,000 copies sold out. That's a pretty big number for an indie band. Since then Shaggydog has started to show in areas around the archipelago…from Java to Lombok…to the point that they are willing to leave college. Two years after that, in 2001 to be exact, the second album, entitled “BERSAMA” was released. If you know, this album was really released with sweat and tears. The manager's motorbike was pawned. Not only that, the recording that took place in Bandung forced them to sing in the Dago area because they ran out of money… What a life Man..!! 2003 was a "Lucky Year" for Shaggydog.
