Screamo. With lots of singing and screaming in long songs. Not unlike Five Stars For Failure. Good stuff. Originally a 4 piece hardcore band formed in Dayton, Ohio in 1999, Shadyside was made up of Guitarists and Vocalists Charles Heck and Wendell Hensley, Bassist Rob Will and Drummer Adrian Grant Over the first 3 years as a band SS played almost 200 shows and made a name for themselves as a energetic hardcore band with long songs that were not verse chorus, challenging audiences to listen, but still accessible for enjoyment. In this time they released two EPs (TheFairbornOhioBand, Analog Sessions). By 2003 Vincent-Ryan Arceo took over on bass and David Brandenburg on drums, while a singer, Michael Malarkey was added to the line-up. The new line up spawned a new direction in sound and relentless weekend warrioring. The band was defined by a loud/quiet dynamic full of heavy screaming, throaty yells, and crooning vocals coalesced with linear guitar lines that rarely repeated themselves and were progressive in nature. In 2004 they recorded "later in the past" which was the highlight of their career and more straight forward than previous releases.. They broke up in 2006 when then singer Michael Malarkey moved on to London, England to pursue a career in acting. They played a series of reunion shows that ended with a final bash on Jan 3, 2009. In 2021, they reformed with the entire original lineup +1, and throughout 2021-2022 they have been playing live shows whilst
