Serenata de los Andes is an ensemble formed in Lima, Peru in 2008 by Jean Pierre Magnet and is a tribute to Andean music, seeking to enhance and disseminate worldwide the musical experience of Peruvian Andes. Jean Pierre Magnet achieves through this project the recreation of Andean musical expression, aiming to cast a spell over the audience and invite it to experience the marvelous Andean landscape and vibrant culture “I aimed to make music through natural instruments, without electronic elements, and composed themes each of them re-creating a journey to different Peruvian destinations. I started by reneplacing keyboard chords and low bass tabs by saxophones and harps; incorporating the Andean violin instead of the classic one, the earthly sound of zampoñas, the charango which keeps the rhythm through rasgueo and the percussion which brings soul and pulse, invigorating each song as a great miracle…Serenata de los Andes is the result of my musical matureness.
