She has it in spades." - Aaron Garner (singer-songwriter, Toronto) Riddled with a manic propensity for introspection, this Winnipeg born and raised singer-songwriter began her musical journey by grabbing an abandoned back-lane guitar and going toe-to-toe poetically with her own reflection and imagination. Soon after, local film producer Kevin Doherty discovered Serena busking the streets of Winnipeg. Surprised and verily impressed with her fire, he invited her to provide some music for a project he was casting. Not only was her song Lullaby used in Doherty's 2007 film release, Wild Turkeys, but sensing a certain je ne sais quoi, he later cast her as the bitchy store clerk in the film (Cinderella happily wore the slipper). Serena has lent her voice to other Manitoba musicians such as Jet Set Satellite for an acoustic remake of a song from their first record also featuring Martha Wainwright. She also provided backup vocals for renowned multi-talent Scott Hinkson's 2006 full length release of Tracking Outside In. Hinkson and Serena’s mutual respect and appreciation for each others music led to his producing her debut release entitled Spare Change (November 2006).
