Anyone who thinks the Christian faith attracts only weaklings has not met Selwyn Cox. A maintenance fitter in a steelworks in Corby, Selwyn's hobbies are weightlifting and judo – clearly he is not a man to pick a quarrel with! Yet Selwyn has a warm, friendly personality that has endeared him to everyone who has heard him sing in his country and western style. It was Easter 1962 when Selwyn first answered the challenge of Jesus Christ at a time when he was pursuing a career in show-business and a recording contract had led to the release of three LP records and two singles. However in July 1964 he felt that God was calling him away from the entertainment world to use his experience in the realm of gospel music. Since that time Selwyn has taken part in gospel radio broadcasts, has appeared on television and has sung in public to bigger audiences than ever before. At the first Sound Vision in London organised by Musical Gospel Outreach his performance of "Yodelling Heart" was a highlight in the programme, and subsequent appearances at similar events in various parts of the country have enlarged his ministry-in-song.
