The southern gospel group, The Segos Brothers & Naomi from Macon, GA, formed in 1958. The group appeared on WMAZ-TV (Macon) and became locally popular. They later gained national recognition with their song, "Satisfied With Me". Being pioneers of southern gospel music, they are believed to be the first southern gospel group to sell over a million records with with their hit, "Sorry, I Never Knew You", which debuted on the Billboard Country Singles chart February 1, 1964. Following this success they appeared on the nationally best known and longest running television program, Gospel Singing Jubilee. They later were invited and performed at The Grand Ole Opry. The Segos Brothers & Naomi members were James Sego, Walter "W.R" Sego, Lamar Sego and Naomi Sego, who was married to James. Lamar left the group in 1967 and formed the group The Lamar Sego Family. James died in 1979 from heart failure (age 51), Walter left the group in 1979 for health reason and died in 2004 (age 71) and Lamar died in 2012. Around 1979, Naomi formed Naomi & The Segos and charged on performing southern gospel music. Naomi Sego was inducted into The Southern Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 2001 and James Sego was inducted in 2007.
