One night in early 2002, Holly Morgan and Lisa Harbin decided that they wanted to start a band, in spite of never having attempted any kind of musical endeavor before. The two teamed up with Vestal Vermin guitarists Kate Tallent (on guitar) and Colleen Pelser (on bass) to form Secret Crush Society, with Morgan behind the drums and Harbin on vocals. The new band wrote four songs and played their first show, a street festival in Baltimore. Later that year, Tallent and Pelser left the band to concentrate on Vestal Vermin, and the remaining members of the band found two new recruits to fill out the lineup: Joseph Grey on guitar and Tanya Taylor on bass. This new lineup spent the next three years playing their signature high-energy shows all over the East Coast in support of "Baltimore Chapter", their critically acclaimed CD on Atomic Twang! records. In 2006, Taylor left the band and Colleen Pelser (now guitarist and vocalist for The Sprouts) returned to Secret Crush Society, and the band, once a hodge-podge of different styles, has combined its raw punk sound and pop sensibilities to create powerful yet catchy new material. In February 2008, guitarist Joseph Grey moved to New York City but is still a member of Secret Crush Society, who are now based in both Baltimore and New York. The band will be releasing their next album on Atomic Twang!, "Into The Dolphin," in Spring 2008. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may
