Scissor Pretty formed in Adelaide in 1995 and quickly gained a following in Adelaide's live music scene. They were Melissa Iocco - guitar/vocals Peter Gravestock - bass guitar (1995-1999) Owen Eszeki - bass guitar (1999-) Matthew Brooke - Keyboards Ben Macklin - Drums Scissor Pretty released their debut album "Are you Home" 1999 which has become their most recognised album, producing a number of stand out tracks including, "Somersault" and "Losing Mountains". "Are You Home" was followed up in January 2001 with the release of the ArtsSA funded eight track EP "Cheese Dreams" which included the tracks "Injury", "Who Do You Need to Know" and of course the title track "Cheese Dreams". The EP was on high rotation on 3d radio and spent several weeks at number 1 on the 3d radio charts. It was a departure from the more melancholy "Are You Home" and received positive critical reception and JJJ airplay. In 2003 the band released their last (and also ArtSA) funded LP "Slow Down" which was their best and last musical offering. An eclectic collection of bittersweet and melancholy Scissor Pretty songs, it is the band's strongest CD and most representative of their overall all sound.
