In late 2010 three friends took a trip to Cape Cod, Massachusetts and realized their mutual love for playing and creating music. Deciding then that it was time to put their talents to use, and so Scan The Sky was born. Bassist/vocalist Dave Carlin, guitarist Ryan Kelleher, and guitarist/vocalist Caleb Pruitt, began to look for musicians that would fit their interests and needs. The band didn’t have to look far, recruiting drummer Devin LaPlaca and keyboardist Paul Falcone, both of whom were classmates with the group. After some time performing, the band caught interest of singer Cody Peck, who then, auditioned weeks later. Peck's range and charisma impressed the band, and he was accepted without hesitation. Now with a full lineup, the band began to record their first single, "Wamsutta Ridge”. Following it’s release brought a lot of attention and popularity to the band, but also a new line up. Kelleher decided to part separate ways with the band, and Falcone took over as lead guitarist. The band then recorded their ‘Redemption EP’; a collection of songs Paul and Kelleher had worked on together in the past. After the band began to gain significant local popularity, they decided to take the next step and began creating material for a studio album. "Dear Hope, Never Let Us Part" was chosen as their first single in late 2011, and subsequently the band chose "Dear Hope" as the album title. The band spent the next eight months writing and recording the new album. Keyboardist Christ
