Savage Circus is a German–Swedish power metal band formed as a side project by drummer Thomas "Thomen" Stauch after his departure from Blind Guardian. The project began when Stauch contacted musician Piet Sielck about collaborating. Sielck introduced him to members of the Swedish band Persuader, whose vocalist Jens Carlsson and guitarist Emil Norberg subsequently joined the lineup. The band released its debut album "Dreamland Manor" in August 2005. On 17 August 2007, Stauch left the band due to health issues, leading to the cancellation of several performances. Mike Terrana joined as drummer in September 2007, and bassist Yenz Leonhardt became a full member at the same time. The band’s second album, "Of Doom and Death", was initially planned for release earlier in 2009 but was ultimately issued on 23 October 2009. In 2011, Piet Sielck departed to focus on his primary band, Iron Savior, leaving the project’s continuation largely to Carlsson and Norberg. In 2012, Terrana left to collaborate with Tarja Turunen, and Leonhardt also departed, reducing the lineup to Carlsson and Norberg. Later that year, Stauch returned, and guitarist Thorsten "Toto" Hain and keyboardist Michael "Mi" Schüren joined. On 9 February 2014, Carlsson and Norberg announced their departure due to scheduling conflicts with Persuader.
