The Mixed Choir ANIMA (Saulkrasti, Latvia) - since year 2001 the Mixed Choir ANIMA is living it’s active life in city Saulkrasti, located by the Baltic Sea. Several times per week ~ 36 people at different ages meet with a common aim – to sing, to create, to share, to perform. For most of the singers ANIMA has become something more than just a choir and it is often called also as a second family. In 2001 Mixed Choir ANIMA was founded by conductor Arturs Ancans but since 2007 Laura Leontjeva has taken over the lead. During the years ANIMA has participated in many festivals and choir competitions as well as charity concerts and various campaigns. ANIMA’s repertoire is wide and colorful – from folk and contemporary music till sacral masterpieces. Mixed Choir ANIMA has participated in various international festivals and competitions. Significant results have been achieved in competitions in Budapest (Hungary), Riva del Garda (Italy), Trnava (Slovakia), Zadar (Croatia), Parnu (Estonia). Besides international festivals and competitions mixed choir ANIMA actively and successfully participates also in competitions in Latvia. Laura Leontjeva (1984) has just completed her master studies in conducting with Professor Andris Veismanis at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music. Upon completing her bachelor studies at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, Laura received a special award for outstanding performance and achievements.
