As said by Satan's Basement, the music is, "More underground than the mole people." Simply put, Satan's Basement is a one man experimental metal project that was started around 2005/2006. Songs generally tend to be either more death metal, doom metal, sludge metal, or hardcore in recent years. Most songs and album art tend to take on an 80's death metal/DIY hardcore aesthetic in many ways. Lyrically, most recent songs are generally about human ignorance, hatred, destruction, and gore. The first album Sludge Filled Wasteland is the first album to show the evolution of Satan's Basement from a joke project, into an extreme experimental metal project. By the second album Cerebral Apocalypse it had become difficult to fit Satan's Basement into a specific genre. Each song had a different style to it, and hadn't stuck to one specific vocal style, in some songs even combining different styles. Influences on the first two albums stem greatly from sludge doom, death metal, grindcore, hardcore punk, drone, and black metal. Everything on and before Cerebral Apocalypse was made during high school on mostly broken equipment. Everything after was made on slightly less broken equipment.
