Fernando Santullo was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1968. At age 8 he exiles with his family in Mexico, where he will live until 1985. In that year he returns to Uruguay and, after trying two degree programs at the university that were not for him, studies sociology at the Universidad de la República. In 1990 he returns to Mexico DF, from where he travels to New York, returning to Uruguay in 1992. Soon afterwards, and already working as cultural journalist, he takes his first steps in music, as part of the band Peyote Asesino with Juan Campodónico. Peyote Asesino released to albums. The first, Peyote Asesino, was published by the label Orfeo; and Terraja, from 1998 was published by Universal and produced by Gustavo Santaolalla. After the disbanding of Peyote in 1999, Santullo founds Kato, with whom he will move to Barcelona at the end of 2001, publishing their only album in 2003 with the label Bizarro. In 2005 he re-establishes artistic contact with Juan Campodónico and starts to work on two songs for Bajofondo's CD, Mar Dulce: Ya no duele, interpreted by himself, and El mareo, nominated to a Grammy Latino 2008 for Best Alternative Song (interpreted by Gustavo Cerati). Between 2006 and 2008, Santullo works with Campodónico and Sebastián Peralta in the songs for the CD Bajofondo presenta Santullo, recorded by the members of Bajofondo and invited musicians.
