With musicians with academic training at the Projazz Institute, and with some coming from the Conchalí Big Band, Santiago Downbeat began to work in 2008, a group defined in these terms by their cult of ska-jazz, and after a long process of work in 2012 they released their first album. With the female voice of Natalia Ramírez, they performed tributes to Orquesta Huambaly and Los Ramblers, as well as sharing stages with the legendary Skatalites in Chile. The group even toured Europe, and was, in short, a small quarry of contemporary jazz soloists and block musicians for a new generation of wind players.
