Sanso-Xtro is Melissa Agate, born and raised in Adelaide, Australia. A drummer who makes a kind of alien folk music with other instruments plus some drums. Her debut album "Sentimentalist" was released on Type Records in 2005. Her influences are as far reaching as her musical ambition, and she takes well informed references from avant jazz, folk, avant rock and experimental electronic works. Inspired by her antipodean background, sunrise, sunset, heatwaves and also from a life-changing move to British shores, "Sentimentalist" is deeply reflective and unashamedly visual. Subtle analogue experimentations and brave acoustic instrumentation. After a seven year stay in London, Melissa leaped back to South Australia for a short while to touch base, swim in the Southern Ocean and awake to the sound of kookaburras whilst writing and recording her second album "Fountain Fountain Joyous Mountain" which was released on Digitalis February 2011. A story about finding something amazing through the light and the dark. Sunrise/sunset, fighting off the ghosts/vampires and climbing to the top to embrace that amazing with an open heart.
