Sanlevigo are an indie rock band from Italy, active since 2017. Sanlevigo formed in Rome in 2017, when a group of young musicians from the city’s alternative and indie scenes began performing together in local venues. Their first year was defined by intense live activity, playing Rome’s key clubs such as Monk, Largo Venue, and Na Cosetta. These shows helped them refine their sound and gain early attention from local critics. In 2018, they received their first major recognition after contributing the soundtrack to the short film “Agnes”, which reached the semifinals of the Rai Cinema Channel competition. This exposure helped establish them as a serious emerging act. After an intense period of early live performances, they began releasing singles on streaming platforms, eventually putting out their debut album Un giorno all’alba in 2021. Their follow‑up release, Eterociclico Vol. 1 (2023), continued to expand their sound, mixing atmospheric guitars, emotional songwriting, and a distinctly Italian indie sensibility. In 2025, Sanlevigo released Spettri, described by critics as their most ambitious and mature work. The album explores themes of disillusionment, inner turmoil, and contemporary social tension, blending post‑punk, new wave, and indie rock with cinematic textures and experimental elements. The band remains active in Italy’s underground scene, performing regularly and cultivating a dedicated following through their emotionally raw, modern approach to Italian rock.
