Sanatio (formerly Ex Nihilo) is a French rock band whose members are Nicolas Rohart (guitar/vocals), Benjamin Pincemaille (guitar/vocals), Clément Aulnois (drums) and Maxime Lebredonchel (bass). The band's former line-up included drummers Benjamin Daix (2005) and Joel Dubois (2006). Clément Aulnois was the band's bassist until 2007. Mixing various influences of bands like Tool, Eels, or, even, early Weezer, with a personal sense of creativity, Sanatio delivers visceral, edgy, rock that anchors straight to the brain of the listener. The band also likes to perform acoustic and play soft, which results in many songs being a contrasting blend of styles. Sanatio started in 2005, under the name Ex Nihilo, after the split of both bands Horsujet and Disgrace. After six months in the studio, composing their own songs, a 4 track home-made demo was released. A few live shows later, after a noteworthy performance in the festival Emergenza and a minor line-up change, the band returned to the studio and recorded their self-produced album Beautiful Disaster, released in April 2006. Since then, the band members have been working on other musical projects, and Sanatio has not released anything, nor played any shows. Fortunately, they're now back in studio and currently working on new songs to be released in Spring 2009 User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
