Samir Surour (1933-2003) was an Egyptian saxophonist. He started his career in a brass military band and was discovered by Baligh Hamdi. Samir Surour was the first to modify saxophone and add a quarter tone. He shared the stage with Umm Kulthum, Fayza Ahmed, Nagat El-Sagheera and Abdel Halim Hafez.
