Sam Nixon auditioned for Pop Idol 2003 and finished third. This was the big break that the talented young man from Barnsley (UK) needed. Sam has been singing since a very young age, and he formed a band with some of his friends at 13. He taught himself to play guitar and was writing songs, performing and recording with his band. Sam and Idol runner up Mark Rhodes got a record contract as a duo, releasing two hit singles (With A Little Help From My Friends & The Sun Has Come Your Way) before taking on a career together in TV presenting. Noteably, however, Sam co-wrote the b-side "I'm Gonna Be With You" with Mark, which appeared on their "The Sun Has Come Your Way" single.
