Saiphon are an English four-piece rock band from Chichester, West Sussex. At the helm is lead singer Bennie Hayfield, a former musical theatre student from Birmingham who became a rock ‘n’ roll frontman due to a hunger for freedom in performance combined with his love for music by artists like The Beatles, Elton John and Ozzy Osbourne. Lead guitarist Aidan Brion hails from the Mediterranean territory of Gibraltar and started his performing career in acoustic groups with a notable performance at The Weekender. Bassist Jude Parker is a psychology student from Portsmouth, inspired by prog rock acts such as Rush and was a surprise last-minute addition to the band, saving their very first gig. Drummer Nicola Oakley, from the Thameside village of Cockham, provides a creative flair to the band’s songwriting process thanks to inspirations from classic rock and classical music and her wide range of musical experience, from playing percussion and viola in classical orchestras, to musical theatre pits. The band’s debut release, CATS EP, was self-released on November 15 2024 and contains four tracks; two of which are fleshed out versions of Hayfield-penned demos; the eponymous single, “Cat’s Can’t Play Guitar” and “Another Lifetime”. In March 2025, Yeovil guitarist Alex Carter briefly joined Saiphon as a touring member before returning Vancouver, Canada a few months later.
