Sailship was an indie electronica project by Mark Swickley of Saint Paul, Minnesota. He released his debut EP, The Best Thing About Me Is You, in 2009. This was followed by the full length, The Giant Leaps, in 2010. From here, Swickley would take a break from Sailship before releasing Paper Garden, the second and final album, in 2016. He announced the project's retirement soon after. He stated in a Facebook post: "The songs I wanted to write have been written, and the impact this project has had on my life will stay with me forever. I've learned so much about myself as a musician, as a friend, and as a person because of all of you."* Swickley would go onto form The Clear Coast with a few of his friends in 2021, and start a new solo project, Faraway Fires in 2022.
