From the mind of multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Marshall Lewis, Saeyers delivers flourishing, electronically fueled dreampop. What was simply an afterthought in early 2016, at last made its debut with the release of Lovers’ Gold in 2017. Following the single, Lewis recorded a handful of tracks under the new alias, Saeyers, to be released as a self-titled EP in 2019. Saeyers found their form and released the single Cruise in January, 2019, receiving a warm response from curators and critics. In the first two weeks of releasing Cruise, the song was selected by the Spotify editorial staff for Fresh Finds, a Spotify playlist which has over 650,000 followers. Cruise broke the top 20 songs on Hype Machine Popular chart, a popular music blog aggregator. During the first two weeks of release, the song was streamed over 20,000 times on Spotify, SoundCloud, and YouTube, and added to more than 240 playlists on Spotify. HighClouds Magazine wrote: “The new Saeyers song gives dream pop a welcome twist by introducing oft-neglected yet effective classic rock tropes. There are a few electronic flourishes here and there and the jangliest guitar parts fall more on the poppy spectrum, but at its core ‘Cruise’ is a rock song, and a very good one at that.” Native to the small town of Bloomington, Indiana, Marshall began writing songs under the name Marshall Lewis (his middle name) as a senior in high school in 2013.
