Sabrina Setlur (born January 10, 1974, in Frankfurt am Main), is a German rapper and actress. She has sold over two million records and is recognized as the first female rapper to achieve a number-one single in the German charts. Setlur was born to Indian immigrant parents and spent much of her childhood in Bad Soden am Taunus and Schwalbach am Taunus. While attending the Liebigschule in Frankfurt, she met Thomas Hofmann, later co-founder of the label Pelham Power Productions (3P), who encouraged her in 1993 to perform rap. She subsequently abandoned her business administration studies to sign a recording contract with 3P. In 1995, performing under the pseudonym Schwester S., Setlur released the double A-side single "Hier kommt die Schwester"/"Pass auf," produced by Moses Pelham. Her breakthrough came with the single "Ja klar," followed by her debut album "S ist soweit," which reached number eleven on the German album charts. She received the Echo Pop award for National Artist in 1996 and hosted her own hip-hop program on the radio station hr3. Her second album, "Die neue S-Klasse," was released in 1997 under her real name and reached number ten on the German album charts, selling over 300,000 copies within months. The lead single, "Du liebst mich nicht," reached number one, making Setlur the first female rapper to top the German singles chart. That year, she embarked on the "S-Klasse-Tour," served as a support act for Michael Jackson and the Fugees, and performed at Rock
