Members: Vocals: 渋谷龍太 (Shibuya Ryuta) Bass: 上杉研太 (Uesugi Kenta) Guitar: 柳沢亮太 (Yanagisawa Ryota) Drums: 藤原広明 (Fujiwara Hiroaki) Biography: SUPER BEAVER is a Japanese rock band formed on April 1, 2005, in Tokyo by vocalist 渋谷龍太, guitarist 柳沢亮太, bassist 上杉研太, and drummer 藤原広明. The members met as upper- and lowerclassmen in high school, with Fujiwara also being a childhood friend of Yanagisawa. The band’s name originated from a casual suggestion to use an animal name; “beaver” was chosen, and “super” was added simply for its sound, with no deeper meaning. Shortly after forming, the band began performing in the live house circuit around Shimokitazawa and Shibuya. Their early momentum was boosted by success at the TEENS’ MUSIC FESTIVAL, where they won the Audience Award in 2005 and went on to win both the Grand Prix and Audience Award in 2006. These early achievements helped establish their reputation as a powerful live act. In 2007, they held their first one-man show at Shimokitazawa CLUB251, which sold out, and expanded their performances across the Kanto region. That same year, they released their first indie mini album Nichijou, followed by Shinkei in 2008. The latter release led to their first nationwide tour, during which their live performances drew increasing attention; the final show at Shibuya O-WEST sold out, signaling their growing popularity.
