Before "ST~Prime", there was "The Band of Seven", a group of friends formed in Memphis. In 2007, to celebrate a trip to his friends' first anime convention, Fox made a short mixtape using DanceEjay as a joke with some of the instrumentals he made. The positive reception to the mixtape grew past just one circle of friends in. In 2008, The Band of Seven released their first album, "Baka Chronicles" to moderate success. A year in advance, they organized a performance at the anime convention that inspired Fox's first mixtape; MTAC: the Middle Tennessee Anime Convention in Nashville, TN. In 2009, they released their second album, titled " Memoirs of an Otaku ". The album acted as a love letter to everything that made them otakus. The album was met to decent success and its release was accompanied by a performance at MTAC Ninja. While the albums fared well in the eyes of their peers, the Band of Seven weren't content with the quality of their work. They needed a rebranding and a new production structure. This came about in the form of a 3-year hiatus and a new name: ST~Prime (ST standing for Soultaku). A renewed focus on Nerdcore was also included as a possible way to definie their genre. In 2013 , ST~Prime released a new, self-titled EP to re-introduce their ever-changing sound with the help of recording engineer Michael Knouff and voice actor Kyle Hebert.
