Sorority Grrrls were a Riot Grrrl band from Newcastle Upon Tyne in the UK. They’re inspired by bands like Sleater Kinney, Bikini Kill, and Dazey and The Scouts and have a very distinct spin on the genre, fusing messy, Poly Styrene like vocals and complicated and often obscure riffs inspired by Mary Timony and Carrie Brownstein. They are best known for their energetic live shows which took place in and around Newcastle since August 2022. Their first two singles “Dead Babies On The Floor” and “American Sicko” are some of their more straightforward songs and the band released one album called "Sorority Grrrls from Hell!" containing the obnoxious, noisey style they have been perfecting for a year. The band broke up in August 2023, releasing one last single called "Gaybar", but their social media accounts are still used as a platform to spread awareness and education of important issues or events, internationally, nationally, and locally. New projects from the former band members are coming soon. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
