Sonic Roots is from Helsinki, Finland and performs soulful hard rock with passion and personality. ”They don’t sound like anyone but themselves” is a comment that has been heard surprisingly often when talking about Sonic Roots. Even though the band cites as influences household names such as The Cult, Danzig and Black Label Society as well as more colourful nutters such as Hanoi Rocks and Guns N’Roses, not forgetting older legends as Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, this quartet can by no means be called as copycats. Vivid lead singer of Sonic Roots, Henry Lee Roots is best known for his works in Spiha, who recorded two undervalued jewels as albums for an obscure Finnish record label. Drummer Björn Again Electric has on the other hand appeared in the Finnish music business for over two decades. Mysterious bass player Bjarski Littbarski (a.k.a. Stacey Goddard) used to appear in a band which evolved into domestically acclaimed Superchrist. Sonic Warland is not a new kid on the block by any standards, but in Sonic Roots he is finally getting the recognition as a guitar virtuoso he so richly deserves. Formed in August 2005, Sonic Roots found its current form in early 2006. During its existence the band has performed over forty shows domestically as well as in countries such as Germany, Estonia, Hungary and Croatia, gaining a reputation of being a very strong live act as a result.
