Artist
SHAD∞W was a Japanese proto-visual rock band, with influences from artist like BOØWY and BUCK-TICK as well as British new wave rock. Formed in 1989 the lineup consisted of RYO on vocals, HIRO on guitar, SHOW on bass and ICHIRO on drums. They made their debut in July 1990 with the album "Epicureanism". In October the same year they appeared on the omnibus "THE END OF THE CENTURY ROCKERS EMERGENCY EXPRESS Ⅱ", together with then-unknown bands like Eins:Vier, Gilles de Rais and SWEET DEATH, who would later rename themselves to Media-Youth. After that, bassist SHOW was replaced by CHU-RY and they released a demo tape and an album called "媚薬 ~VI-YA-KU~" in June 1993. Compared to their first release, the new album had a lighter and more melodic rock sound. The same year SHAD∞W disbanded. RYO, CHU-RY and ICHIRO formed the band INSPIRAL GARDEN while HIRO and ex-bassist SHOW formed HYPERM∀NIA with two other members. All of their songs were written by guitarist HIRO (三木浩之, Hiroyuki Miki). User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
