Schizoidal Grove was an American Lo-fi music band that formed in Fargo, North Dakota in 1998. The group mainly consisted of Donald Renner (vocals and guitar), and Lady DeGuerre (vocals), and featured heavy use of over-driven Casio synthesizers. Conceived as a recording project, the band avoided press or live performances, while attracting considerable underground attention with their initial release. Gradually evolving into a more polished band, Schizoidal Grove recorded two full length albums over the course of a decade, disbanding quietly as the members moved on to other projects. In 2003, Renner released the well-received Bipolar Butterfly. Though only briefly brushing the mainstream with the single "This is the Way" in 2004, Schizoidal Grove's underground presence endured. Rather than seeking a major-indie record label as many of their 1990s forebears had done, they remained signed to independent Coach and 6 throughout their existence and have been described as one of the most influential bands to emerge from the Fargo underground in the '90s.
