S.A.D.O. is a heavy metal band from Berlin, Germany, that was formed in 1978. The band split up in 1990. S.A.D.O. was an odd band for its time. As one of the early Noise signings in the early eighties, they had very little in common with the label's other acts like Helloween or Running Wild, instead opting for a hard rock sound that at times sounded like either a poor man's Def Leppard with some AC/DC thrown in. The band's lyrical stance seemed to side toward sex and S&M (apparently this worked its way into the live act in some respect), a further indication that this really wasn't a typical Noise band. As hard rock goes they weren't too bad, and no doubt the sex angle helped them a bit, but they never really caught on with the mainstream crowd. They managed four albums, with a fluid lineup surrounding vocalist Andre Cook, ending in the early nineties. Vocalist André Cook has been the only permanent member since the band's inception in 1978. Some musicians left to form V2 after the release of the Circle of Friends. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
