Running Riots are a 5 piece hailing from the Camden area of London, England. The band’s name reflects the fact they are a fierce live act, and are creating a buzz wherever they go, pulling rowdy audiences to witness this vastly popular unsigned band. Running Riots have been in some form since 2005 but it was the start of 2008 which saw the birth of Running Riots. The bands influences include The Jam, New York Dolls, The Clash, The Pixies, and more recently The Libertines, The Maccabees and Maximo Park. Since the birth of Running Riots the band have had an impressive run of gigs pulling large and loyal crowds, including their own self-run residency ‘Nitro Nites’ at The Enterprise in Chalk Farm. In 2008 the band promoted their ‘On the Floor’ EP which was recorded at Courtyard Studios, Oxford. It was made possible by financial backing from Brian Message, (Radiohead's Manager) and was received well by the fans and industry. The Café De Paris, 12 Bar, The Cavern Liverpool, Carling Academy Islington, The Good Ship and The Rhythm Factory among many others all saw Running Riots in action in 2008, one of highlight being a packed Friday night headline slot at The Underworld in Camden on 08/08/08. Running Riots are now as tight and determined than ever, writing new music at an alarming rate merging their personal styles and influences to create a powerful, unique, raw and angst ridden sound, but with enough vocal melodies and hooks to be commercially accessible.
