After the 1989 demise of New York City Straight Edge hardcore legends, Bold, singer Matt Warnke wanted a break from fronting a full-fledged band. But just as soon as the itch went away, it re-surfaced again. By 1993 Matt was on a search again, this time for the right musicians to back a new hardcore assault. A longer process than expected, Matt wouldn’t settle for mediocre pieces to the puzzle. It wasn’t until 1997 that he teamed up with former Supertouch drummer Andy Guida and former Supertouch guitarist Jon Biviano, in 1999. Finally, a solid bassist entered the picture with NYHC veteran, Scott Heatherly, and the vision was complete. With a recipe that appears to carry on the flavor of both Bold and Supertouch, Running Like Thieves’ sound delves into a hard-rock approach, propelled by an intense hardcore delivery. Whether it’s loud, fast, hard or moody, Running Like Thieves have created a sound all their own, crossing genres, yet maintaining strong appeals to both. Their Livewire Records debut EP, “Same Time Next Year,�? hit the streets in spring of 2002, while the band was eager to hit the road. After weekend jaunts up and down the East Coast, fall of 2002 found them in Europe for three weeks, only to return home to the January 2003 release of their “The Approval Of The Crowd�? EP.
