Rufus T. Firefly is an alternative rock band from Aranjuez (Madrid), currently composed of Víctor Cabezuelo (vocals and guitar), Julia Martín-Maestro (drums and programming), Carlos Campos (guitar), Juan Feo (percussion) Miguel de Lucas (bass) and Manola (keyboards). The group was formed in February 2006 and takes its name from the character played by Groucho Marx in the Marx Brothers film Duck Soup (1933). Rufus T. Firefly was formed in 2006 and that year made it to the Madrid final of the Global Battle of the Bands competition. After that inspiring debut, they produced, Invisible, a demo consisting of four songs sung in English. In 2008 they recorded their first full-length work, My Synthetic Heart, a self-produced album whose eleven songs took the young band to the finals of underground compilation competitions. The band returned in February 2011 after a year of silence and the shift to Spanish lyrics with an EP called The Secret History of Our Planned Obsolescence. Also self-produced, this second work was recorded at El Lado Izquierdo studios, under the direction of Dany Richter (Russian Red , Christina Rosenvinge) and Manuel Cabezalí (Havalina), which meant a notable improvement in the sound. Ø is the third studio album (second full-length). This time the album was released by the record label Lago Naranja Records. Repeating the success of working on El Lado Izquierdo with Dany Richter and Manuel Cabezalí, the album was recorded in May and released in September 2012.
