Ruben Zahra is a Maltese composer known for his contemporary music that blends influences from rock, folk, and jazz. His works span music theatre, multimedia, and film, and have been performed across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and the Americas. Trained in Malta, Italy, and the USA, Zahra studied with renowned composers including Ennio Morricone. A former film composer in Hollywood, he now works internationally from Malta, also serving as a cultural entrepreneur and director of several arts organisations and festivals. In 2000 Zahra released his first CD entitled Nafra - Contemporary Folk Music From Malta (Nafra) featuring a variety of World Music compositions. In this CD, Zahra utilises traditional Mediterranean music as the basis for a series of Classical, Jazz and Rock variations. Nafra has been broadcast on radio stations in Malta, France, UK (BBC), Australia, USA , Japan and Russia.
